Blonde hair turning green

Blonde hair turning greenWe regularly receive calls from customers saying that their blond hair is turning green. Most of the time it is when a salt based water softener has been installed, and usually in a new build or a fairly new build property in a hard water area. Another reason can be to do with lower TDS or acidic water where there is a low fairly acidic pH (more likely with private water supplies).

Corrosion due to chlorine or pH problems

The reason for this occurrence is to do with copper corrosion due to chlorine and other aggressive industrial chemicals.

There a a few things you can do to solve the problem if you are on a mains water supply supplied by the water company.

1) Install a carbon block filter system - you can find our range of them here.

2) Install a liquid softener system - this injects 2ppm of hexapolyphosphate which is a limescale inhibitor which also protects pipework from corrosion. Browse our range of liquid softeners.

If you are on a private water supply it is likely you will need a pH correction system which adds minerals and hardness to your water. The best thing to do is email us at info@osmiowater.eu with your water analysis and peak/pump flow rate and we will be able to quote a system for you to solve the problem.
